The sweet sound of softly falling snow...

in the month of October. Earliest snow fall in the three years since I've been here. It makes me happy because it is way better than rain. Alas, it won't last long, but that's okay. With the snow flying this early in the year there is bound to be lots more coming. Sledding on Thanksgiving anyone? Ice skating, cross country skiing, even walks in the snow are all welcome activities. When it rains all winter I don't get out much and my physical fitness suffers.

On the knitting front, still weaving in ends on the wedding gift. Started a clapotis scarf in the lovely Mountain Colors barefoot colorway granite peak. It is the following colors, but in barefoot. I would take a picture here, but as previously mentioned, no working camera.
I am totally loving knitting with the barefoot. Took the hubbies measurements for his sweater, and will restart it from the top when I find the size circulars I need. Other than that, not much this last week.

Golly, look at the time... I should go grab the mail and get some work done.

It's Blinding Me

Ack, well it's not anymore, but the sun just shined throught the trees in my back yard into my little "office space". It was very bright. My eyes just aren't use to the brightness like they use to be. Guess that means, yep, it's not raining!! When the hubby gets home, perhaps we'll go for a walk and feed the ducks.

Not much else happening here. Trying to get some work done on my unending portfolio. This should be done by now, but I haven't made very good decisions in the past concerning how to spend my time. Oh well, progress is still being made. I will finish it. Then I'll be able to learn how to spin. The hubby said that when I get my degree he'll get me a spinning wheel. I've always wanted to learn how to spin, ever since I was a little girl admiring my Aunt's spinning wheel, wondering how it worked. Someday....

It's finished!!

Finally, 3 months after it was supposed to be finished, the remainder of my cousin's wedding gift is done. Well, except for weaving in the ends and some finishing, but all the knitting is done. I'm hoping to send it to her with some other additional goodies for her birthday. Other than the late wedding gift, there isn't much knitting news. I need to get started on my husband's Christmas gift, as well as all the other gifts I am hoping to make. It would also be nice to knit something for myself, some wristlets would be nice, or a shawlish thing. We'll just have to see.

It's raining today. I should keep track of the n
umber of rainy days here, but that would take some technical know how that I don't have. We did have a bit of a reprieve yesterday from the rain. Unfortunately I am suffering from a bit of a cold and don't have a whole lot of energy. The good news is that I am getting better and have more energy every day.

I would post pictures, but don't have a working camera, the hubby and I are planning on getting a new camera for a joint Christmas present for ourselves. Perhaps I'll backpost some of these items later, providing I have pictures of such.

Flowers in bloom

Yay!! My Christmas cactus has finally bloomed. I would post a picture, but alas, none of our cameras currently have power. That and our digital camera had a little accident on our roadtrip last month involving barbecue sauce. Anyway... it's the pink variety and really lovely. This is a landmark for me because ninjaman and I got it at a garage sale over 2 years ago, before we were married, for free due to it's being near death. After much love and care, trial and error, and finding it a happy place in a window it has grown and blossomed. Perseverance, even when things look hopeless, eventually produces fruit or, in my case, flowers. That was just a little something that God showed me today.

Speaking of road trips, we had fun, and we took pictures.

It was beautiful where we were... Sunny and bright fall weather. The above picture was taken on our last day visiting my dad's vacation spot.

On the knitting front... you can't imagine that I would have gone a whole year since my last post and not knit anything... I present: finished socks (my first and only pair thus far), a lovely shawl (not a great picture I know), and a hat for the hubby (very poor picture, but it's on his head).

Among other things, but these I have pictures of. Hopefully I will have more at a later date.
