The New Year

It's 2008 and what are my goals for this year:

1. Be the best mother that I can be to my little girl.
2. Be a better wife to my husband.
3. Save up money for a spinning wheel.
4. Improve my skills with a drop spindle.
5. Use up some of my modest stash of yarn (this will help achieve #3)

And most importantly -
6. Spend more time reading the Bible and praying in order to get a more intimate knowledge of God.

Your list looks remarkably similar to mine. Except that drop spindles are EVIL, I just have no affinity for them. I have to say as far as wheels go, I wish I had purchased the one I have now in place of my first wheel. It is such a pleasure to spin on and much more easy to me consistent with, it makes the whole thing a lot more fun! (oh, and the price difference is not that huge).

Majacraft, in general, makes phenomenal wheels but the Suzie is by FAR the best one I have spun on in the price range. And their customer service rocks.

Daily bible reading is a challenge. I am finding that making it a priority in my time now is helping since things are getting busier. I just went through an amazing study I have to recommend to EVERYONE I come across called "Idols of the Heart" by Elise Fitzpatrick. VERY convicting, but moreover, it has helped me a lot with my time management as a housewife and mommy. I am lending the book to my mom right now but when I get it back I will send it your way if you're interested.

My biggest challenge staying at home with Callie, honestly, is getting everything done. It is so easy to wake up with her, play with her, nap with her, and then be exhausted by evening and not do what I need to around here and yeah, the pregnancy exacerbates that a bit. I've been reading up on a lot of good time, money, and home management from other godly mommies online and it's given me some great ideas, but DISCIPLINE and treating my job here at home as an actual job, with tasks I have to complete, is definitely a huge challenge for me in this coming year.

At least we're kind of there together :)

Speaking of which, does it look like you two are staying in Juneau long-term? I know Tim's tossed around a lot of ideas but I don't know where you stand right now. And I am so sorry to hear about the cruddy tenants. Sue was awesome, for sure! Good luck with them!
